A Feminist’s Guide to Acting Like a Lady

Because empowerment should not be without integrity

Tip #7: Be not afraid. Embrace color, whether in your clothes or your décor.

Fiona makes a strong case for pink.

  1. Blue totally counts. Have you ever seen Sliding Doors? With Gweneth Paltrow? There's a scene in a kitchen that has dark blue walls and I always figured that'd make a place look small but I quite liked it in the movie. I think that might have been the first time I considered the idea that something other than swiss coffee would look good on walls.

  2. I love Sliding Doors! That's my go-to short hair cut. And I had forgotten about that blue kitchen…. I have one room that's a pale blue, and my dining area is a dark raspberry color, and my bedroom is kind of orange-y-ish, and my bathroom is purple. And I, apparently, feel compelled to tell you this. =^)

  3. Sliding Doors is one of my all-time favorite movies! "Nooobody expects the Spanish inquisition!" Sounds like you have no fear of color at all. I love that your rooms are all different colors. That sounds so happy and vibrant! I can't wait to live some place where I can do that to my walls too (i.e. not rented). I'm already crossing the line from having painted my living room walls gray and kitchen cabinets mint green.
